Antenatal Shared Care (ANSC)
What is ANSC?
ANSC is a partnership between your GP and a public hospital. This program allows you to receive most of your routine pregnancy care with your trusted GP here at Southern Doctors Clinic, while still having access to hospital specialists for complex assessments and delivery planning.
Our GPs have undertaken additional training in women’s health and obstetrics to allow them to partake in the ANSC program.
How it works
Routine Check-ups: Your GP will provide regular antenatal check-ups, monitor your health and your baby’s growth, and give advice on nutrition, lifestyle, and wellbeing.
Referrals When Needed: If complications arise or additional investigations are required, your GP will coordinate care with hospital specialists to ensure you receive timely expert support.
Improved communication: Your GP and the hospital team maintain communication, so your care is seamless and well-coordinated.
Benefits of ANSC
Continuity of Care: See the same GP throughout your pregnancy for a familiar, supportive experience.
Convenience: Attend most appointments close to home without unnecessary hospital visits.
Comprehensive Monitoring: Regular assessments at your GP clinic, combined with specialist input when needed, ensure early detection of any issues.
Who can participate?
ANSC is suitable for most low-risk pregnancies. Your GP will discuss your eligibility and refer you to a participating hospital or maternity service if needed.
